SETBACKS = OPPORTUNITIES

Hey Team Dan here, I hope that you are having a great day so far.
For those who have listened to The Organic Strength Podcast, you will have heard me speak about the pain and injuries I have had with my knees for the last 6 years.
The issues have been sporadic, from a big trauma six years ago, to more frequent flare ups of tendonitis and pain.
I haven’t helped myself either to be honest, impatient with the lack of healing, often pushing through pain when I know I need to take it easier.
This past weekend was another of those hefty trauma days. I was playing football, I went into a tackle and hurt my knee, again. I won’t go into too much detail - but it hurt!!
This is not the first time this has happened, and it’s always frustrating when it does:
I am now out of action for a number of weeks, potentially months (football, running & lower body gym work)
When I return to sport I am sure that the confidence in my knees will be low, at least initially.
But, it is not all doom and gloom.
When things don’t go the way that you want or the way you planned, it provides us with the opportunity to come back even stronger than before.

We are likely to encounter problems/setbacks in our path as we embark on a journey towards our goals.
They enable us to slow down, reflect, to refine our processes and allow us to work on our weaknesses and come back stronger.
In my case, I know that because my knee is healing, I can properly take time away from football and running, let my body heal properly.
This setback also enables me to focus more on muscle and strength building for my upper body within my training for the next few months.
ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:
Setbacks happen, whether we like it or not. Once we understand that they are part of the process we can deal with them much more effectively. There will always be opportunities to move the needle forwards. We first need to step back from our situation, to be able identify the areas where we can make strides in the right direction.
